This will be a Thai traditional wedding (somewhat adapted to Canada) beginning with what Thais call 'tam boon' which means merit making. This entails paying respects to Thai Buddhist monks including providing them with food, and receiving their blessings. After this they will perform the wedding ceremony in Thai fashion. After all this in the morning everyone can relax and enjoy an afternoon reception party.
222 Concordia Place, Nanaimo
Thai Merit Making 9:30 a.m.
Wedding Ceremony 11:00 a.m.
Reception Party 1:00 p.m.
If you plan to come for the merit making, we ask that you prepare a dish of food to give to the two or three monks. What happens is that what they do not eat (which is a lot usually if many people make merit) is served to everyone else in a potluck style. This would be part of the post ceremony party.
Parking on the street is available, but limited, so if you can carpool with someone, that will help, or park on a nearby street.
