Prior to meeting, we both spent years focusing on God and discerning what He wanted for our lives. We both knew God must be the foundation a loving relationship is built upon. It was also important that any future mate held the value of living a life of sobriety and would embrace each other’s children. LoveNLyrics meets Brandon1613. In a day and age where technology is at our fingertips, we both took a crazy leap of faith and tried online dating one more time. For working, single-parents who didn’t get out much, it seemed like a reasonable option and perhaps a viable platform God could use….I mean, crazier things have happened, right? We exchanged our first email through Christian Mingle on December 22, 2016, and met for our first coffee date 6 days later at Solid Grounds on December 28, 2016. We connected right away, shared the same values and our adventure began! With the challenge of busy schedules and only seeing each other 4 days a month during the first year of dating, we had to trust that God was going to work out the details if this was the relationship He was calling us into.
After a little over a year since meeting, I planned a surprise weekend ski-trip in late January 2018 to Ski Granby Ranch/Grand Lake for Brandon’s birthday. The idea was that I would surprise Brandon with a fun weekend trip, but little did I know, Brandon would end up surprising me with the beautiful gift of a proposal when I least expected it. On the last ski-run of the day, Brandon led me to a less-traveled trail and we stopped to take in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. He started saying things like, “God sure has done some amazing things in both of our lives” and “We sure have been on some great adventures together”. I was oblivious to what would come next, and before I knew it, Brandon was down on 2 knees (with snowboard attached), pulled out a ring from his pocket that he’d been carrying all day, and said how he wanted to share many more adventures with me and asked if I would marry him. I recall saying, “Are you serious?!?!?!?” and hugging him, and he said, “So I take that as a yes?!?!”....and in that moment, my tear-filled nod would mean we were officially engaged. What made the moment even more perfect, was we looked up and there were two boundary poles forming an “X”....X most certainly marked the spot :-) We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in October!
