Garrett and Clara joke that they caught "the last chopper out of Saigon", because they seemed to have found each other when they both were at their wits' end with the dating pool. They met on the dating app Hinge. Clara & Garrett's relationship and engagement is proof that Hinge's tagline "designed to be deleted", really is true! Their first date was in May of 2023 at the AMC movie theater in Corvallis, Oregon. They saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Clara cried, because something sad happened to Baby Groot. That didn't seem to scare Garrett off though, because at the end of the date he made sure to tell Clara that he was "smitten" with her, and that he would love to have a second date. They became "official" in June of 2023.
