Mady and Clinton were headed to a Charley Crockett concert in Bozeman when their worlds collided in a cross walk on Peach and 7th Streets. Mady's mom and Clinton's friend Tory started the conversation that would lead Mady and Clinton to finding each other at the Eagle's Bar downtown after the concert. There they spent the next three hours discussing their thoughts on art and aliens. Holding hands and locked into each others gaze, they knew there was a genuine connection. It was a true reunion of familiar souls.
Clinton's mom and dad took the whole family of nine, to Norway in July last year. It was a trip full of rich family history and reconnecting with family members from both Kim's mom and dad's side. We started our trip in the south and made our way north from there. At the end of the trip, Clinton and Mady planned a few days away together in the Lofoten Islands. They rented a car, hopped on a ferry and traveled along the coastline, north of the arctic circle. On their last night on the islands, Clinton had reminded Mady that they needed to cross off a midnight sun hike from their to-do list. So at 10:30pm, they started their hike up Mount Glomtind. The top of the hike served private 360 views of the islands, an alpine glow on the mountains and a view of their fish shack Airbnb below. It was well after midnight after their hike up and a visit at the top. Clinton borrowed a blanket from their room and packed a bottle of apple mead wine. They talked about how blessed they were to be experiencing that together, how grateful they are for each other and the excitement that they share for life. Clinton asked Mady what she wants to be proud of when she reaches the end of her life. She responded with wanting to be truly authentic and doing everything that she wanted to do in this life. Not holding back and going for it. Clinton reached down into his backpack and started to share his own answer. He dropped down onto one knee and said "Well, Mady, I want to say that I was your husband. Will you marry me?". Mady's jaw fell to the ground and took a few minutes to gain strength to come back up. It was the easiest "YES!" she had ever let leave her body!
