Well so the story goes, our dads were best friends growing up. Still are. Our moms were pregnant with us basically at the same time. Katie was born October 1, 1993 and Brady was born October 14, 1993. Such a good year. That was the year the first Jurassic Park came out. A movie which they both absolutely love. Because who doesn’t love dinosaurs. As Katie and Brady grew up they were not around each other too much, as they lived at least an hour apart as kids, and when they were they didn’t really have much interest in one another. You know, girls are gross and boys have cooties. However at some point a little childish crush on each other developed for both of them but as if anything was going to come of that then. Years pass, they are in high school, and Katie’s dad was wanting to sell his old Jeep Willys truck. Brady was very interested in the truck and proceeds to buy it. Maybe the day after, Katie gets a message on Facebook from Brady, whom she wasn’t even friends with on there to begin with, saying, “hey, I just wanted to say, your parents are pretty cool lol.” Katie was like, “uh yeah I know this. Thanks! Lol.” From there they sort of on and off began talking more and more, Katie even added him as a friend on Facebook. They were now officially friends. Their friendship grew over time, sharing their love of, once again dinosaurs, but also nerdy fandoms such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, animals, adventuring, rock collecting… And so much more. At the time they were both in other committed relationships and nothing more ever became of their friendship. In 2016, after going through some rough patches in life, Brady and Katie had been given the opportunity to finally see where their friendship could go. And boy did it go. The transition from friendship to relationship was absolutely seamless. And even today they still enjoy each other company over any one else’s… sorry not sorry everyone else. But it’s true. Which is a good thing I suppose because we are getting married! We got engaged on January 13, 2022, on the shores of Lake Superior, outside of Ontonagon, MI. It was cold, snowy, windy, stormy looking and absolutely beautiful. We had our dog Mavis with us who was an absolute tyrant but we loved having her with us. Brady’s friend, Craig, our MVP, came all the way up there to take photos as everything happened, while he was also supposed to be back home watching out cats, AND he also had a chipped tooth. What a guy, Craig. Katie did not see it coming at all, and she swore she would know some day when it was going to happen. There were happy tears that started to freeze on our faces but it was such a perfect moment. We cannot wait to get married and start this next chapter of our lives together!
