A Leon Love Story

There are moments that pass quietly, almost unnoticed—and then there are the ones that change everything. Ours didn’t happen all at once. It happened three times. I. 2015, at the University of Florida. One of us was busy leading CASA (Cuban American Student Association), the other had just walked into her CASA meeting and immediately noticed her. Messages followed—confident, slightly persistent, definitely trying his best. And her? She perfected the art of leaving him on read. That moment was quietly tucked away somewhere in the background of college life-- a moment we didn't yet know would matter. II. Years later, we crossed paths again-- but this time, life had rewritten the roles. One of us was now a lawyer. The other, a law student. Boss and law clerk. The kind of dynamic that leaves no room for anything other than him assigning her suspiciously heavy stacks of files, both quietly pretending it had absolutely nothing to do with him getting payback for a few very unanswered messages from years before. A little too much work. A little too coincidental. That moment came and went. Another almost. III. And then, in 2022, a swipe changed everything. We matched on Hinge. She swiped on him completely by accident, without realizing it was that former boss on the other side. April 24, 2022. Our first date. We talked so much, laughed so hard, and lost track of time so completely that we didn't realize the restaurant had closed, and they had to kick us out. And just like that, everything finally made sense. All the missed chances. All the timing that wasn’t quite right. In July 2025, we got engaged. And now, here we are. Three meetings. One story.
