It was at the Dimond mall kids foot locker, I was shopping with my little bother Blake who is a shoe fanatic. He wanted shoes for his birthday present so we went in as we often did. There was a new kid I hadn't seen there before, the two guys working the front looked up. Lhey was the one who came up to help us find the right shoe and size. His sly try at getting me to sign up with my number for rewards failed and I walked out of there never at all thinking that initial meeting would change my life forever... I had a friend who played basketball in the Anchorage district and was friends online with a few people from other schools. At one point we went to lunch together and she had posted a picture of us, well... he saw it reached out. After he sent her a message asking for my contact. I said yes but had no idea who it was asking about me, I did know it was Lhey and I decided to see who it was because who knew right? We chatted online for a bit getting to know each other and we liked each other but it didn't really seem that interesting to be honest so we stopping frequently communicating. I really was not in the market for a relationship and he was getting ready to move to Washington with his family the next year. Over that summer we rarely talked. With everyone staying busy throughout the short Alaskan summer we did not have much time to consider the future endeavors of life. The Alaska State Fair is in August and is a big deal out there, everyone goes to or works at the fair. My brother Luke was working at the gyro stand by the farris wheel and my friends and I stopped by to see if we could score some free snacks! It was a crowded space on a beautiful, warm weekend. There were people in long lines waiting for the rides near the food stands. After we ate we decided it would be a good idea to walk around and see all the new booths nearby. We were walking through the crowds and excusing our way between the lines for the rides, I bumped into a dark haired kid who looked somewhat familiar. Turns out it was Lhey with his group of friends enjoying themselves at the fair. I had not really seen him many times in person other then at the shoe store to buy shoes so I wasn't sure if that was him. I remember I quickly ducked away through the crowd to find my group, not knowing if he had seen me or not. Funny that I had just bumped into the guy I had been talking to online all summer! "It was always meant to be!" I believe God knew exactly what we needed when we needed each other. We connected again, started taking the dogs on walks and going on adventures together. Growing closer and closer together we realized that there was a strong connection there and we wanted to nurture it. We started dating on Jan. 11th 2018 and the rest is history!
