We met in a way only God could've thought of. Our friend Godwin was playing in Tampa with Leonard at the time. I was freelancing in Chicago and had an unusual amount of free-time on my hands. During this time I had made a connection with my now good friend Sarah who was living in Tampa. Godwin thought it would be a great idea if I came down to visit, watch a game, and meet Sarah in person and even be encouraged at a Bible study he attended. Little did I know that it was a men's ONLY Bible Study! Godwin conveniently left that part out. He had asked Leonard if, Doug, the team chaplain who ran the Bible Study, would allow a woman to join it even for one night. Leonard told Godwin that Doug would trust his judgement, but he would still need to run it by him. Godwin asked Doug if a friend from Chicago could join the study, but again, forgot to mention a key detail......I was a woman! Doug had no knowledge a woman was joining the Bible study and I had no knowledge it was a men's only study. There is no way I would've said "yes" to joining a men's Bible study. I arrived that Monday night with Godwin much to shock of Doug who assumed I was going to be a man. Doug is a man who loves the Lord and because he didn't know me he wanted to ask me specific questions making sure I understood the Gospel before I left his home. That night me, Godwin, Leonard, and Doug studied the Gospel of Matthew for roughly two hours. I don't remember much of what was said, but I do remember being encouraged. I would not see, think of, or talk to Leonard for over two years, until July 2020. (He gives me a hard time about me forgetting him!) As God would have it, our friend Godwin helped us reconnect again through the exchanging of our phone numbers. We began communicating regularly through phone calls and text messages. Until Leonard decided he wanted to pursue me (an answer to my prayers!!). We met in person for the first time in Chicago in early October and the rest in history!
