Several flight options are available. From previous experience the most efficient airlines flying to the island are Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines and American Airlines.
Hawaiian Airlines does fly direct from Austin, TX to Lihue, HI at a reasonable fare.
Advanced car rentals are highly recommended to get the best deals. Uber/Lyft are available on island, however they are not a dependable source to get around the island so a car rental is the best option to see the whole island on your free time. Book ASAP to make sure you are able to reserve a car. The island typically sells out.
