By the time Leo and Anna get married, they will have grown in love together for more than seven years. They began to show mutual interest for one another during their freshman year of high school back in 2014. For the first time, Leo asked Anna to the Christmas Dinner with a bouquet of flowers. She was so excited because she took it as a sign that Leo liked her. To this day, Anna still has a rose from that bouquet Leo gave her seven years ago (it may even be displayed somewhere at the wedding)! After some convincing, Anna's parents allowed her to begin dating Leo on March 27, 2015. On that day of school, Anna took Leo aside during break to share the exciting news. She walked Leo over to a bench in the quad (possibly after buying a soft pretzel or cookie from the cafeteria), and told Leo they're allowed to begin officially dating! Leo and Anna shared an "I love you" only about a month into dating, and the rest is history! They both have loved supporting one another through good times and bad times. The "good times" for Anna and Leo occur whenever they get to travel with friends and family. Together, they have been to Hawaii, Mexico, Big Bear, Joshua Tree, Kernville, Las Vegas, Anza-Borrego, Catalina Island, and many more places in between! They love to get out and explore new places! For the past few years, Leo has been working towards becoming a firefighter/paramedic while Anna aims to get her master's in speech-language pathology. There have been "bad times" along the way when fire academy became draining or when Anna was rejected from attending various master's programs. However, Leo and Anna loved to support each other during those times and grew more deeply in love through it. Now, Leo finished fire academy and is working as a probationary firefighter/EMT and Anna was accepted into Baylor's online speech-language pathology program where she is currently attending. They both excitedly await their wedding day when they can begin their life as a married couple!
5.29.2021 Anna and her sister, Christina, planned to get up early the morning of 5.29.2021 and drive to Carlsbad, CA to take some graduation pictures. Anna had no idea she was really getting ready for her long-awaited proposal. Leo previously told Anna that he was working a 48 hr shift at the fire station, so she did not expect any surprises while taking the pictures. Instead, Leo got off of work that morning and drove directly to Carlsbad to set up where he was planning to propose. Meanwhile, Anna was only a few miles away. After over an hour of taking pictures, Christina suggested moving to a different area of Carlsbad. As Anna and her sister arrived at the beach, Anna joked, "This is where I told Leo he's allowed to propose to me" (props to Christina for not laughing and giving away the surprise!). They started making their way towards the steps to walk down to the beach, but Anna insisted on taking some pictures with her diploma. After much persuasion on Christina's part (and possibly frustration), Anna finally gave her the diploma to be put away in a backpack she brought along. They got down to the end of the steps and climbed up a small cliff where Leo was waiting around the corner. Anna kept walking further along the beachside cliff still oblivious to the situation and taking more pictures. Then she turned the corner and saw Leo standing with a big smile on his face. She stood a shock for a long 10 seconds and approached her soon-to-be fiance. She started to, of course, ugly cry which made Leo begin to cry as well. After Leo shared a few private words, he got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" and she said, "YES!". After much excitement, all of Anna and Leo's friends and siblings came out from another corner for a second surprise! This lead to more overwhelming happiness as Leo and Anna were surrounded with love from all their friends. Afterward, Anna and Leo ran into the ocean to celebrate and spent the weekend in Julian, CA with their friends.
