Steve was living by himself in an apartment (about an hour and a half north of where I was living at the time), and I had just moved home with my parents to save for a house. We met on a dating app (Hinge) and both insist to this day that we were the ones who messaged the other first - Although, I definitely messaged Steve first. We texted, called, and Facetimed for about two weeks and got teased by our friends for "sending novels back and forth." We finally decided to meet for dinner halfway at a Brewery in Slippery Rock PA, which is actually in my college town. I (of course) was so nervous that I went to TJ Maxx three separate times to keep changing my outfit. We ordered the same exact meal (I knew he was the one when he also got extra ranch) and we laughed & smiled for FOUR HOURS. It wasn't even 48 hours until we had to see each other again.
After meeting for the first time at the Brewery, the rest was history. We met on April 1st, and on April 15th, Steve brought me to dinner in his hometown to meet his family. When we got back from dinner, I had an Easter basket from Steve waiting on his kitchen table. The basket had one of Steve's sweatshirts in it and he insisted that I put it on right away! To my surprise, the sweatshirt had a note in the sleeve asking me to be his girlfriend. You guessed it.. I said yes! After a few short months, we decided to start our lives together. Steve moved out of his apartment of 9 years and we got our first apartment in Mars, PA. We lived in a one bedroom apartment and started new jobs. Ironically enough, we worked for the same company.. Remotely! Steve, Brew, Oscar and I spent every minute of every day together and somehow there still was not enough time together. After 10 months in the apartment, we found our first home! We bought a wonderful home with the *brave* idea of fixing it up, even though the only power tool we knew how to use was a drill. We moved into our home with the help of our incredible friends and family, and started the next chapter of our beautiful lives together. Shortly after moving in, we both started our dream jobs. Steve began the Police Academy with the City of Pittsburgh and I started my dream of working in Medical Sales. We put our heads down, supported one another, and started building a life we love. On our two year anniversary, we decided to stay downtown and explore the city in typical Steve and Liz fashion (great food and beer, of course). We decided to soak in the city on Mount Washington, and to my surprise, Steve was down on one knee. It was the easiest decision I ever made to say "YES" to forever with my best friend, my better half, and the love of my life.
