01.08.2024 Ramon's move to Germany || 20.11.2024 Engagement || 20.05.2025 civil wedding || let the story continue Ramon telling you our story: I first met Lene during a volunteer project at ICF Rio, where we were helping paint the church. She was part of a youth group from ICF Munich that had come to Brazil to support the community, and I joined them at the suggestion of Pastor Bruno Cordeiro. At first, I didn’t even notice her—until Bruno assigned us to paint the same wall. Even with my hesitant, broken English at the time, we started talking naturally. I was drawn to her warmth, and we exchanged contacts. Since I was on vacation and wanted to get to know the visitors better, I suggested a group trip to the beach. Over the next few days, we explored Rio together. During one of these outings, someone floated the idea of hitting the gym as a group. On the agreed day, I arrived punctually at their apartment (yes, the Brazilian was first!), but got a message from Lene: "Our friend backed out. Is it okay if it’s just the two of us?" Since I was already at their doorstep, I agreed—though I have to admit I liked the idea! On the way to the gym and during the workout, our conversation grew deeper. I’m pretty straightforward and pragmatic (must be the German in me), so I started asking questions about life, values, and relationships. Each of her answers drew me in more. After the workout, I invited her to lunch, and we spent hours talking as if we’d known each other for years. When I dropped her off at her apartment, she asked, "What’s your favorite place in Rio?" I didn’t waste a second: "There’s this beach in Niterói, not far from here. Want to go tomorrow?" She agreed, and I knew it was time to be honest about my feelings. The next day, as we walked along the shoreline, I took a deep breath and said: "Lene, I really like you. Even with the distance, I want us to get to know each other better. If you’re open to it, I’ll do whatever it takes to build a life together one day." I expected a "Let me think about it," but she smiled and replied with a firm "Yes!" before I could even finish. Back then, I was just a student about to graduate, someone who’d never left Brazil. But in that moment, a certainty began to grow in my heart: I was going to marry her. Two years later, here we are—proving that sometimes, a wall to paint, a gym session, and a beach invite can be the start of "forever."
