We met at the tail end of middle school. I first saw Gilbert when we had Health class. We first starting talking more when we were freshmen in high school. We talked almost daily throughout high school and we ended up becoming close friends. We never dated in high school, but we did go to Senior prom with one another. It wasn’t until we were in college that we decided to have the title be official of being in a relationship. Our mutual love of comics, sports and pop culture helped to bloom an amazing relationship. 7 years later and that love for one another has only grown.

After putting up the stockings in our apartment, Gilbert said he was going to put my gift in the stocking to open on Christmas. I am notorious for opening gifts too early so I was tasked with actually being surprised. I made it all the way to Christmas and Gilbert made sure I got my nails done. I thought it was to just be more in the sprit of Christmas. He opened his gift from me and when it was my turn, he handed me my stocking. I pulled out the box and opened it to find the engagement ring and Gilbert on one knee. I know we’ve been together awhile and we both knew we would get married, but it was such a special moment!
