On May 6th, 2015, two individuals made a choice about an evening's entertainment that would lead them to where they are now: together. Lena had the next few days off from work decided to make a midweek trip to a bar she never frequented. Alex did happen to frequent this bar, every Wednesday for trivia. Ironically, on this date his trivia teammate was preparing to get married that weekend so was unable to make it. He sat debating whether to go play a solo round of trivia or have a quiet night at home, he ultimately decided to head out to the Brass Tap in Coconut Point. The next element of chance in this story is that the person hosting the trivia knew both Lena and Alex. The former from previously working with her, the latter from his weekly participation in the trivia. Lena spotted Alex sitting at the bar, pen in hand, beard being twisted in thought about the correct answer to each question. She asked Cash, trivia host, if she knew him. In turn, Cash let Alex know that Lena had inquired about him. Ever-dutiful to the competition, Alex made sure he finished trivia (of course, he won) before he made a move to speak to Lena. However, it was Lena that came up to the bar first, standing right next to Alex, and ordered wine. With the knowledge that she had asked about him, Alex gave his best opening line, by saying "Hi". After some witty banter, the two exchanged numbers and then went to another bar for some drinks before they called it a night. What seemed like a one-time encounter progressed into getting drinks after work, some dinners (including the bee incident, which we won't share here), and eventually a growing romance. Two years and six days, countless rounds of trivia, trips around the country, and days filled with laughter later, Alex proposed on the beach on Sanibel Island as the sun went down. They could not be more excited to be able to share their wedding with all the family and friends that have been with them prior to and during their journey together.
