Lela - I remember sitting in my college apartment a few weeks before I met Alex praying for someone to walk into my life with a heart like his. As soon as I laid eyes on Alex I knew he was the one. He was everything I was looking for and then some. We decided to pursue one another and it wasn’t long before he asked me to be his girlfriend. Our worlds collided perfectly and soon decided we wanted to move in together after only three months of dating. We then took the leap and moved to Huntersville NC where Alex is originally from and where I then finished my degree online. After about 2 years of dating Alex surprised me with a proposal I will never forget. We got engaged on December 11, 2019 at the US National White Water Rafting Center under the twinkling stars. He goes above and beyond to let me know how much he loves me every single day. This was the easiest “yes” of my life! Alex - I met Lela my senior year of college at Coastal Carolina University and it was not until 2 years later once my career in Chicago was over, that I met Lela again at a famous college bar back at Coastal. I had been back from Chicago for a few months training with some old college coaches and teammates in order to stay ready for the next opportunity that would arise. I was very strict about my diet and wasn’t doing much of anything outside of training but that one night I said “sure, let’s go out.” That random decision on that random night would change my life. Playing in the NFL was a bitter/sweet experience. Although it was an opportunity of a life time and I had a great experience, it was cut short due to compounding injury’s. What helps me get over and through that part of my life is when I think about “what if?”. I think what if my career lasted longer in the NFL and I didn’t return to Coastal to train? What if I hadn’t of gone to that bar that night and ran into Lela? I like to think it all happened for a reason and now I am marrying my best friend and love of my life.
