Things To Do

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

Balboa Park is a cultural oasis that includes 18 museums, numerous beautiful gardens and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. At 1,200 acres, Balboa Park is one of North America’s most renowned urban parks and a must-see on any visit to San Diego. Located just blocks from downtown San Diego hotels, the park has a rich history, reflected through its stunning architecture, thought-provoking exhibits and installations, and cultural events that take place throughout the year. If you can, take a stroll over to the San Diego Air and Space Museum- the location of Lani and Chris's first date!

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

12600 North Torrey Pines Road, San Diego, CA 92037

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a 1,750-acre reserve dedicated to preserving its namesake, the Torrey Pine tree and other indigenous wildlife in its native environment. A coastal wilderness of pine forests and sandstone canyons, the park has a series of well-kept trails that wind along the cliffs offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. With both easy, family-friendly paths and more advanced trails, the park provides a great hiking experience for all levels!

Kate Sessions Memorial Park

5115 Soledad Road, San Diego, CA 92109

If you want to enjoy one of the best views of San Diego, head up to Kate Sessions Park. This 79-acre park located on Mount Soledad was one of Lani, Chris, and Frida's favorite picnic spots. Its gentle, grassy slope gives way to incredible vistas overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Mission Bay, and downtown. The park has parking areas, barbecues, restrooms, drinking fountains, and two playground structures. Picnic tables are scarce, so bring your picnic blanket and enjoy the shady spots among the trees!

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Ladera Street, San Diego, CA 92107

Just south of Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs Boulevard traces a beautifully rugged, 1.5-mile stretch of bluffs. Pounded by surf, the cliffs shift and erode, occasionally forming new rock arches and grottos. This is where Chris asked Lani to be his girlfriend in 2018 and where Lani's dad asked her mom to marry him in 2008.

Dog Beach

Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92109

Located at the west end of Voltaire St., this off-leash dog beach is one of the most popular in San Diego. Dogs can play fetch in the surf or run free on the wide, sandy beach that ebbs and flows with the daily tide. This beach was frequented by Roxy the Boxer, Boots the Corgi, Frida the Chiweenie, and Steve the Grandpa.
