Shelburne Museum does a great job of capturing Vermont's history in an easily digestible form for all ages. It also is home to many art exhibits and during the winter they have a beautiful festival of lights to brighten up a dark, winter night.
Always a Northern Vermont Staple. It is not only very photogenic, but it also offers a range of restaurants and stores. A couple of blocks from Church Street there is a boardwalk along the lake front, that provides spectacular views, and a park to have a picnic. Also running a long the lakefront, is an easy to ride bike path, which always offers plenty of side adventures along the way.
Taylor Park is in the middle of Downtown St. Albans and often has many activities or Farmer's Markets during the summer. It is also right across the street from St. Alban's quaint downtown offering restaurants, bakeries, bookstores, an old movie Theater and locally owned stores of all kinds.
Shelburne Farms is a great way to enjoy the lake front, with captivating views, and gorgeous gardens. There are also several walking trails, and you can enjoy tours of their farm where they make their own cheese and grow their own veggies, which they have available for retail. You can also enjoy the farm's products at their restaurant and the Inn, which is a must try!
The Colchester Causeway is beautiful, relaxing and requires a little bit of exercise. It is a bike path that is on packed gravel that goes on a narrow causeway across Lake Champlain. It is walker and wheelchair accessible. You can also connect to it from the Burlington Bike Path via the Local Motion Bike Ferry.
One of Vermont's Most popular Wineries (famous for their Ice wines), sits on a very beautiful piece of property in a small, Vermont town. Within Cambridge there are also some food options, such as BBQ and Pizza.
If you are looking for a small, Vermont town that has a little bit of everything, this might be worth the quick drive. They have the Cupboard Deli which serves up some creative sandwiches, makes their own donuts, and offers creemees. Jeffersonville is also home to a distillery, a Vermont favorite: the Burger Barn, and some small shops in their downtown. Located behind the deli is a building where you can rent out kayaks to take down the river. Their van will drop you off, with your kayak, and you can easily float and paddle down the river, with plenty of places to picnic with your supplies from the Cupboard, or take a quick dip in the water.
