Barrett and I knew of each other in High School. He was one of four guys that went to Augusta Christian from Thomson, Ga. All of the Thomson Boys got away with everything. I was good friends with two of them. I knew of Barrett but stayed far away from him. He was a rebel without a cause and I was the perfect princess. Fast forward a few years, I heard that Barrett was in a pretty bad accident while at work, I would ask how he was everytime I ran into someone that knew him. But knew that if I were to reach out to him, he would not know who I was. Fast forward a few more years. I was recently out of a relationship and had I just moved into my town house, and one day while at work I received a message on Facebook from Barrett asking how I was. I was excited to hear from him. I assumed by his FB picture that he was probably married and had a little boy. Come to find out he was single and the picture was of his nephew. (who looks just like him, talks as slow as he does, likes hunting, fishing and taking things apart just like his Uncle Barrett) A week later, Tuesday, October 18, 2011 was our first date at Fujiyama Japanese Steak House. Barrett watched TV above my head the entire date, I walked away thinking "well it was really good to see him, and I got a free meal out of it" never expecting to see or hear from him again. The very next day, he sent me a text message being funny. "My work day is almost over :) 5:00PM is a long way to go". I explained that I was at the hospital, that my dad had a TIA stroke. He had never met my father or any of my family, but he was there by my side and has been ever since. It is true when people say you will find someone when you least expect it, I am glad that he found me.
