L: We’re not exactly sure how many years ago, maybe 5, but we both ended up at an open gym for volleyball at Bushy Creek in Round Rock, TX. We spotted each other across the court and Stephen proceeded to talk volleyball to me. He was standing tall, with a smile he couldn’t contain, while chatting away. I thought he was handsome, but for some reason, I was completely clueless to his flirting. S: Lies, she was totally having it...okay, so I was probably talking about cheese or something, but I was in it for the long haul, and food taste is important. Luckily, years later, I had another chance. We ran into each other at a friend's birthday party. I knew she was going to be there and told myself there was no way I'd let this chance pass me by. L: I heard him mention Turnpike Troubadours and that’s where I swooped in. S: She thinks she swooped in. I knew she loved Turnpike Troubadours. 😉 L: It was an unforgettable night of talking, laughing, and two-stepping in the kitchen with some of our best friends.
The proposal took place at Jester King Brewery in Driftwood, TX. This is one of our favorite places to get pizza, craft beer, and take in the Hill Country views. As we walked towards the brewery, up the hill, Stephen had me turn around to face the sunset so he could take my picture. When I turned back around, he was on one knee with the ring in his hand. (How did you feel? First thoughts? Do you remember?) My cousin, Emily, was hiding in the bushes taking pictures, and the rest of our family and friends were looking on from their hiding spot. It was THE BEST night for both of us. Stephen managed to keep it ALL a surprise so I was shocked and overwhelmed with happiness!
