Leigha and Chase went to high school together and knew of one another, but only had mutual friends. After each of them graduated, they went about their lives. Chase attended college at FSU, Leigha moved to NC and worked in Real Estate and Interior Design. In 2020, Leigha moved back to Florida to be closer to her family during the pandemic. Chase had also moved back to Babson Park after graduating in 2018 and began working for the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Chase is also a pilot and in early 2020 he sent a message to Leigha on social media and asked to fly her to dinner. She agreed, and he flew her to Clearwater to have dinner during sunset on the beach. They quickly formed a connection and a strong bond when the country shut down after just their first date, and their dates turned into quarantining with each other and their families. Chase proposed to Leigha just over one year after their first date, while on a hike with their families in Boone North Carolina.
