Leidy and Ruben first met at Discovery Green, a park in downtown Houston. They met through a friend of a friend (Gaby Garcia). When Ruben saw Leidy he told his friend (Josh Lopez) how beautiful he thought she was. They hung out a bit at the park then went to dinner, there they both saw what they liked in each other; Leidy liked how laid back and friendly Ruben was and Ruben liked her sense of humor and how outgoing she was. After dinner, the group talked a bit outside of the restaurant and said their goodbyes. Ruben told both Leidy and Gaby to text him later to make sure they got home safe, hence how he got Leidys number. A friendship was started! They hung out, got to know each other and remained good friends for a couple of years. After a few gatherings, Ruben sending Leidy empanadas, buying her a slice of chocolate cake (her favorite), and filling up her gas tank they finally started dating.
