It was just another weekend hanging out in Mazeppa for their yearly town celebration. Shawn, who was first only known as Kurtti, wanted to play softball but he had his 3 year old son, Carter, who needed to be watched. Elizabeth has always had a special place for kids, especially cute ones who had cute dads, too. Carter was playing by himself with his trucks, so Elizabeth told Shawn, whom she’d never met before, that she’d keep an eye on him. Carter fell asleep in Elizabeth’s lap, and the rest was history. A friend of Elizabeth’s looked at her and said “you’re gonna be that boys step-mom one day.” Elizabeth said she’d never see these two again. Fast forward a year later and we’re back in Mazeppa for their spectacular fireworks show. Shawn and Elizabeth were hanging out in the same group of friends and a conversation was sparked. Couldn’t tell you what the conversation was about, but it lasted all night. The next day Shawn was back for more softball, but he seemed to be hanging around the volleyball courts more than the softball field where Elizabeth happened to be playing. The day went on, conversation was shared, but it was time for Shawn to leave. He awkwardly said good-bye as Elizabeth was waiting for him to ask her for her number, but nothing. Later that evening Elizabeth received a Facebook message from Shawn, numbers were exchanged, and we haven’t stopped talking since 💙🧡
