Missy and Leia’s story began at a runway show in San Diego and quickly led to a game of giant Jenga, from that quirky start, their love survived almost 2 years long-distance, a global pandemic, and a whole lot of “Are you there? Can you hear me?” video calls. It has continued growing into a multi-city adventure and is packed with surprises, laughter, and a connection that just keeps getting stronger. They were invited to a clothing line debut at the House of Blues by their mutual friend Stacy. On the day of the show, Missy was held up at work and almost missed the whole thing. Arriving fashionably late and blissfully unaware (because if you know Missy at all she has never worn make up a day in her life) that makeup was scheduled *before* the show, that's when she met Leia—the makeup artist who was definitely not impressed by Missy’s “better late than never” entrance. Later that night, the group went to a bar to celebrate after the show. Missy had her eye on someone else—okay, maybe two other people—but the universe had other plans. The crew ended up back at Missy’s place for a late-night garage hangout, playing games that escalated to a round of giant Jenga. Each brick had a truth or dare and when Missy pulled the “Kiss the Person to Your Left” brick, fate stepped in—Leia was on her left. That small moment sparked a connection neither saw coming. Leia will tell you she flirted her way into sleeping in a proper bed. (it was Missy’s bed or the garage couch—guess which one won). They ended up spending the night talking and enjoying each other's company, exchanging numbers before parting ways the next morning. Shortly after that first night, Missy drove up to L.A. for their first official date—They chose a fun day at Santa Monica Pier followed by dinner, that turned into an overnight stay and the start of something special. The next day Leia dropped the bombshell: she was moving to New Orleans in 8 weeks. What started as a brief fling quickly deepened. Leia came down to San Diego to spend time with Missy, and they shared countless adventures—especially bonding over their mutual love of camping. One unforgettable trip took them to Sequoia National Forest, where they were the only humans for miles (during late September when temperatures drop near freezing). That secluded getaway became a turning point, sealing their bond in a way words couldn’t. As moving day approached, Missy continued to drive up and help Leia pack and load up her life for the cross country trip. While miles would soon separate them, they committed to keeping in touch and making long distance work. Missy flew to New Orleans for her firsts Mardi Gras 2020, blissfully unaware it would be months before they’d see each other again thanks to the pandemic. For nearly two years, they kept their love alive with video calls, phone dates, and a lot of patience (and a few Netflix marathons). In June 2021, Missy finally crossed the country to be with Leia, and they began building a life side by side in New Orleans. Despite challenges and not be able to live together, their commitment never wavered. In June 2024, Missy proposed to Leia in Scotland (because why not take photos in front of a castle). Leia quickly picked a date for June 26, 2026, but life had other plans. After the November presidential elections Leia and Missy were forced to make a hard decision to guarantee their marriage would legally be recognized. After a whirlwind trip back to California, dodging wildfires and travel chaos, they legally married on January 13th 2025. Talk about a plot twist. In July 2025, they took another big step, moving together to Las Vegas in order to advance Missy's career. Now settled in Las Vegas and ready to celebrate, Missy and Leia invite you to join them for a joyful party before their private handfasting ceremony on the 26th. Their journey has been anything but ordinary, and they can’t wait to share this next chapter with all of you. See you in New Orleans!
