'Til death do us part

We decided to have our wedding at the chapel at Marie's alma mater. The Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School is now closed, but the Sisters of Divine Compassion open their chapel for any alumna wishing to celebrate the sacraments there. Completed in 1897, the Chapel of Divine Compassion is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.

Luke and Marie met in Brooklyn on a cool night in June of 2018 after matching through the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel. They met up at Motorino for pizza before walking across the street for a show at Baby’s All Right. The opening bands weren’t great, and Luke was a little nervous whether he had made the right choice, but by the time the headliner performed, his connection with Marie was well on its way. After the show, Luke walked Marie to the subway, where they parted with a handshake. Luke spent the bus ride back to the Rockaways stressing about whether the handshake was a sign that the date went bad. Marie spent the train ride back to Park Slope happy with how special the date felt (and will note that Luke made no move for a hug or ANYTHING, so really, isn’t a handshake better than nothing??). Luckily all of that stress was for naught, because a month later Luke and Marie agreed to make it official at a date by the ocean. Six years later, it was at that same beach that Marie joyously accepted Luke’s proposal. They currently live in Park Slope with a one-eared cat named Watson.
