While this is a bit of a trek from South Beach, if you have the time - Crandon Park Beach is rated one of the top public beaches in Miami.

Located on the retro Ocean Drive, Lummus Park beach always is buzzing with activity from biking to volleyball to just laying in the sun. Definitely a fun place to spend your day.

I used to spend a lot of time here when I was younger. The Miami beach botanical gardens has an array of beautiful flowers and gardens as well as live events on the weekends. It's SUPER close to Lincoln Road Mall if you want to hit multiple hot spots.
