We met just after college, both brand new to the field and working at the Eastconn Autism Program. Every Friday after work, we were assigned to clean the toys in the Centers room which was definitely not the most glamorous task, but it quickly became our favorite part of the week. As we scrubbed toys and tidied up, we started talking— about music, college, our friends, weekend plans, and the big dreams we had for the future. Somewhere between the Lysol wipes and laughter, something special started to grow. We connected in the simplest, most genuine way—just two people figuring life out, side by side, one toy at a time. One Friday, our team went out for happy hour after work (which ended hilariously early—before the sun had even set). That night, Leeza mentioned she’d never been out on this side of the state and asked Will if he knew any good spots. Naturally, he offered to show her around. They ended the night at Bidwell, where Will picked up the whole tab—but only after Leeza insisted on splitting it. So, in true Will fashion, he asked the bartender to charge exactly one dollar to her card, just to keep things fair (and to make her smile). And from that night on the rest was history.
