Andrew and Samantha met at LSSU in the summer of 2024 at a Bible study, becoming comfortable and friendly with each other, but it wasn't until January 2025 that they began talking more and spending more time together. They both attended a His House retreat that January. On the last night of that retreat, Andrew walked Samantha back to her cabin. Before he left, he confessed he thought her bright red boots were cute. Shortly after this, the two were officially a couple, spending the rest of the semester hiking, playing board games, and doing homework together before Andrew graduated and left the Soo for a job in Wisconsin. The rest of the year, the couple traveled to see each other often and were able to go on a cross-country road trip to Washington State with two of their friends. They continued to spend time with each other when they could, and video called each other whenever they were apart. Early in 2026, Andrew proposed to Samantha at Point Iriquois Lighthouse. Now engaged, the couple is excited for marriage and their life to come.
