Shortly after Vanessa relocated to Atlanta in 2018, the two 'swiped right' and were matched through the dating app, Bumble. After a few messages back and forth they exchanged phone numbers and met in a small coffee shop. They were both relieved to see that neither was a 'catfish'.
Their second date took them to the Georgia Aquarium for a night of fish and sea life. What was supposed to be a quiet place to talk and learn more about each other turned into a loud and long night as it also happened to be the week Atlanta hosted the Super Bowl. The area was crowded and traffic was bumper-to-bumper! After the Aquarium neither of them were ready for the night to end (or ready to sit in Atlanta traffic), so they went on an evening long adventure of food and live music in the area. They talked, laughed, and cried all night long...still never wanting the night to end.
Alex and Vanessa took a trip to Liberia (West Africa) to visit Vanessa's family, but unbeknownst to her, Alex had a plan. With all of Vanessa's family together he could finally ask them what he had been wanting to ask for months. However, Vanessa's mother, Lovette, knew before he had even opened his mouth and asked Alex about his intentions before he could ask her for her blessing! After speaking with Lovette, his family, and with the blessings of Vanessa's brothers, Alex knew his timing was just right. The two ventured off for a late night dinner on the beach in Roberstport and that is when Alex got on one knee and popped the question under the moon. He asked and she said "yes".
