We first met as players in the same Dungeons and Dragons campaign. He hated the quiet girl. I hated the loud, new guy. But after over a year of hating each other and not interacting unless needed, Connor made a mindless joke that I actually laughed at. A joke that quickly became the start of our friendship.
After we became best friends over the next few years, Connor mustered up the courage to sneakily ask me out-- to which I said "no" (Yes, I told him "no"). The next day after neither one of us could stop thinking about the night before, we met up at the same spot and decided we would give it a try.
We had planned for weeks to take a Christmas train ride through Noblesville right before Christmas Eve. But Connor had other plans for that night. He picked me up and took me to our favorite park that we have spent countless hours at while talking about our lives both present and what we hoped for the future. We walked among the Christmas lights to our usual spot, and with my back turned, Connor got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.
