Matt and Sam had a trip to Sedona planned Labor Day weekend for Sam’s birthday where Matt had planned to propose, but on September 1st, his dad unexpectedly passed away. They spent the next week and a half surrounded by family in Deer Lake, WI, celebrating the life of Don. The evening of September 8th, Matt asked Sam if she would wake up early in the morning so that he could give her a birthday gift and watch the sunrise on the dock of the lake, as this is something his dad did often. The next morning was gloomy, but Matt led her out on the dock as planned to give Sam her gift. Inside was a love story book Matt had made, the last page of the book was a note written by Matt asking Sam to marry him as he got down on one knee. The moment was emotional and special as they felt the love from his dad looking over them and his family at the lake. They couldn’t imagine having their proposal story written any other way and can’t wait to start this next chapter in their lives!
