Kevin always says he can vividly remember the first time he met Samantha. It was the Spring of their Freshman year, inside Pike, his fraternity house. Samantha was over visiting a friend when Kevin walked into the room. She was sitting on the ground, wearing her black Greek sweatshirt with her hair up. Samantha looked up, smiled at him, and introduced herself. And the rest was history. Well...not quite. It was over a year before the two went on their first date at Tuggs Tavern in May of 2014, and just a few weeks after that, Samantha headed up north to work at bible camp for the summer. She would drive down to the cities almost every weekend, however, to spend time with Kevin. By the time she was back down for good, she was starting to wonder if they were ever actually going to "make it official," but on August 23, 2014 they finally did. Fast forward four and a half years. Kevin and Samantha have graduated college, acquired Bella (the best cat ever), bought a house, and officially coined themselves "Mom & Dad" of their friend group. Given how horrible the winter of 2017/2018 was, Kevin and Samantha had already planned an early get-away to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in mid-January. Like they do, people asked Samantha if she thought they would get engaged in Mexico to which she would laugh and say, "Good joke. Kevin would never propose in Mexico." Good joke, indeed. It was January 22 - the end of their first day. They had retired to their room over-looking the ocean - both in their PJs, drinking wine, and talking about life. At one point, Kevin paused and asked Samantha, "When would you want to get engaged?" Was this a trick question?? Samantha debated - do I say 6 months to a year? Anytime? Never? Instead of answering, she turned the question on him. Kevin responded by taking her hands and asking her to marry him. And finally, the rest was history.
