Our Story

It all started with the line: "I have a sister in Canada." Hans met Lee Len, Lee Ann's sister, in an online chess game. During one of their games, she mentioned she had a sister living in Canada — and that one simple line somehow changed everything. Not long after, I got a message that said, “Hi, this is Hans. Your sister told me about you.” I replied, “Hello Hans, yes, my sister told me about you too.” And just like that, our very first conversation began. That was back in 2021. For a while, it was just short greetings and small chats once in a while — nothing serious, just friendly messages here and there. But as time went on, especially toward the end of 2022, those short exchanges slowly turned into longer ones. Soon, we found ourselves talking more often — throughout the day, and even late into the night. Hans would wait for me to finish work at 11 p.m., and that’s when our calls would start. Sometimes, we’d be on the phone until morning, just talking and laughing about anything and everything. Without realizing it, our simple friendship started turning into something deeper. Then, in March 2023, Hans finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course, I didn’t say yes right away — I made him wait a little! But eventually, I did say yes, and on March 12, 2023, we officially became a couple. At that time, we still hadn’t met in person. Hans was in Montreal, QC, and I was in London, ON — almost 800 kilometers apart. It wasn’t easy, but we made it work. After a few months of long-distance calls and endless conversations, we finally met face-to-face for the first time. From then on, either Hans would drive eight hours (16 hours round trip!) just to visit me, or I’d take a long bus or train ride to see him. Every mile was worth it. Then came June 6, 2024, a day we’ll always remember. After attending his Canadian Citizenship ceremony, we went to St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal to pray and give thanks. While standing side by side in front of the Cross, Hans took my hand, looked at me, and asked, “Will you marry me?” And of course, I said yes. And that’s how it all began — from a simple message, to late-night calls, to a love that crossed cities and countless hours on the road. A connection that started by chance, but led us right here — ready to spend forever together.
