How We Met

How We Met

Krista and Lee met in the summer of 2014 in Seattle, Washington. You may be thinking, “Seattle? How do two small-town South Dakotan’s meet over 1,300 miles away on the west coast.” Well fate brough these two love birds together as they both embarked on a mission trip. In the prayer circle before the two buses departed, Krista distinctly remembers seeing Lee across the circle from her and telling a friend: “look at that guy over there in the flannel and beard, he is so hot!”. Lee also had eyes for Krista, and thinking that she was really cute, decided to approach her in a Montana Cracker Barrel gift shop (the group had made a pit stop for dinner) to ask for her number. Little did either of them know that know that seven months later they would begin their journey together as a couple.

It was clear from the beginning that the two loved to spend time together. Whether it was Friday afternoons riding on Lee’s motorcycle, a lazy Saturday morning lounging around, or weeknight adventure, the two found great peace in love in each other’s presence. Lee’s goofy and carefree personality coupled with Krista’s ambitious but grounded nature made the two a perfect pair. Krista and Lee have done so much together in the last eight-and-a-half years: traveled many miles to visit one another, went on numerous ice-cream trips, graduated college, pranked each other, raised their goofy Padfoot, bought a house, went on many trips to buy Lee car pars, moved to the Twin Cities, bought a second house, cuddle and watch movies for hours, lost their good boy Padfoot, hiked many trails, opened their home to sweet Roosevelt, and many more adventures to list.

The Proposal 5.4.21

Lee knew that Krista was someone special and wanted to make sure that the day he proposed was just as special; so, he put together a plan. While Krista and Lee had already discussed getting married, Lee wanted to make sure that Krista had no suspicion of when the proposal was coming. Lee also knew that family was important to both him and Krista, so he needed to get both their parents in on the surprise. So, Lee concocted a plan. Lee told Krista it was to celebrate Mother’s Day early and Krista bought it, calling her mom immediately to tell her of the “Mother Day” dinner plans. Lee, Krista, and their families enjoyed a lovely meal at Granite City; and at the end of the meal Lee got down on one knee and asked Krista to marry him! To say she was surprised is an understatement and to be able to share that special moment with her family made it even more amazing. They both could not be happier and have been enjoying the engaged life together.
