In the summer of 2015, Jackie was an ambitious medical student conducting research at Cincinnati Children's and did not have a social scene in the Cincinnati area. She decided to get an apartment with one of Lee's former roommates and fellow medical student at Ohio University. Naturally, she fell in with Lee's band of hooligans and would spend her weekend nights out on the town with these guys making the most of their mid 20's. It was at one wine festival in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood where Jackie first met Lee and instantly was attracted to his amazing looks and fun personality. While they did not start dating then, pictures from the day show an obvious connection that would soon evolve into the best friendship either of them would ever have. They eventually agreed to get together and start a relationship that would last the rest of the summer, survive the distance between Athens and Cincinnati, and finally until they moved in together when Jackie began rotations in Dayton, Ohio.
The biggest day of Jackie's life up to this point was May 12, 2018 for multiple reasons. Both Jackie and Lee's family traveled to Athens, Ohio for Jackie's graduation from medical school where Lee was able hood Jackie as she received her diploma. That night, Lee's house hosted a graduation party / moving-out party in Cincinnati. While Lee had purchased a ring and planned on proposing in Monaco, he thought it may be a good idea to propose in front of all of their friends and family. Lee pulled her dad aside and asked him what he thought about him proposing to his daughter here and now at this party. Her dad was delighted but at the same time obviously anxious. Jackie described this night later as the first time she had seen her father drinking whiskey. After a few drinks to calm his nerves, Lee went for it. Lee's cousin's band was performing for the party and was taking a break between sets. During the intermission, Lee grabbed the microphone and got down on one knee in front of Jackie and asked her to spend the rest of his life with him. She was caught off guard but ecstatic that the boy she loved so much had asked her to be his wife.
Plans were made, plans were postponed. However, Jackie and Lee were ready to tie the knot. Together they booked a Highway 1 tour from San Francisco to San Diego, enjoying lots of wine and the beautiful California coast. On 10/10/2020, they arrived in Carmel by the Sea, a perfect location for a quaint, intimate ceremony with just the bride, groom, an officiant and a photographer. The weather was amazing and the scenery was stunning. On the beautiful cliffs, they said their vows and for the first time said "I love you" as a married couple. While it was not the wedding they initially imagined, the day could not have been more perfect.
