Fort Worden is located on the northeastern side of the Olympic Peninsula, in Port Townsend, Washington, where the Salish Sea meets Puget Sound. Just two hours from Seattle and three hours from Vancouver, B.C., it’s an easy, scenic journey to this unforgettable destination.
The grounds of an old army fort here offer long beaches, a picturesque lighthouse, spooky old military bunkers to explore, and rows of historic homes. It's easy to lose a whole day to the history and activity on the very tip of the Olympic Peninsula.
Though the entire state park is filled with curvy roads, the beaches on two sides make it easy to orient yourself and pretty simple navigation. If you need a little help the information center offers maps. Once you're out of the car, more than two and a half miles of the trails are paved for easy access.
