Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Celine Beaudry and Lee Spahr
Looking for a little adventure in your downtime? We've got you covered! Maine is known for all the little hidden gems we have around the state, and Madison does not disappoint! From golf courses to Maine's oldest theatre, here is a list of things to check out!

Lakewood Golf Course

803 Lakewood Road, Madison, ME 04950

Lakewood Golf Course is an 18-hole par 72 course located in the upper Kennebec Valley on Route 201 in Madison, just outside of Skowhegan. Built in the early 1920s as part of the Lakewood Colony summer resort, the original nine has a classic links feel and a good balance between challenge and playability. The back nine, designed by Phil Wogan and completed in 1995, is a parkland course cut out of the thick Maine woods. This course includes Maine’s only Par 6, with fantastic scenery to give you a great golfing experience. Nestled amongst white pines and beautiful mountain views, the 6,279-yard course at Lakewood is challenging and welcoming to all golfers at any skill level. Within a short drive of many local attractions, including white water rafting and the Lakewood Inn and Theater, one of the area’s finest golf courses is a wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty of Maine.

The Bankery & Skowhegan Fleuriste

An old bank, repurposed as a bakery! The bride's family has been big fans of this little bakery for years. Treat yourself to a sweet treat at the bakery, or grab some goodies to take home!

Old Mill Pub

39 Water Street, Skowhegan, ME 04976

Another favorite of the bride's family! This super cute pub is located on the water, and often has live music. A fan favorite by the locals too! Great spot for lunch or dinner!

Philbrick Trail

The blue-blazed Philbrick Trail begins near the perimeter of Skowhegan's water treatment plant, just across the road from the Debe Park River Walk trailhead. After following the fenceline of the treatment plant for approximately one-hundred yards, the trail breaks into the woods and over a small bridge into a hemlock forest. The trail splits once inside the woods and winds through the woods in a network of interconnected loops. These trails pass along the banks of the Kennebec and around and through several ravines that slope down toward the river. At low water, large stretches of the riverbanks are lined with sandy beaches and views of calm waters after they exit from the sharp gorge in Skowhegan's center.

Debe Park Trails

9-27 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Skowhegan, ME 04976

The Skowhegan River Walk is a great place for everyone including kids. The trail is paved, is off the road, and includes seats and picnic tables. Beautiful trees line the walkway and along the way are benches to relax on and exercise fitness units.

It might not be Marden's..... But it is a Maine Adventure! Besides, who knows what you'll find at Reny's?!
