After months of our friends trying to get us to agree to meet, we took a chairlift ride up Chair 4 in Vail. Both in uniform and both still on the clock, we loaded the lift and were swept off our feet. Emily showboating ahead, not knowing that even though Jordan is very good at snowboarding, this was his first season skiing and had double ejected and lost all of his gear about halfway up the run behind her. None the wiser, Emily agrees to go to a local brewery the next night. As they got to know each other they found more reasons to trust and love one another.
During an unassuming birthday trip to Angel Fire, Jordan made a plan. Invited on the trip were friends who were also in on the plan, leaving Emily clueless. She was certain there would be no proposal this trip since Jordan was acting very nonchalant about daily planning. The group made the plan to ride up the chairlift and walk around the top of Angel Fire Resort. The "guy chair" went up first then the "gal chair." We got to the top and decided to walk to the top of the Southwest Flyer (another chairlift). It was a beautiful fall day with a little bit of fresh snow. We decided to walk up to the Hike Access area of the ski area to maybe catch a pretty view. After a little hiking a bit a beautiful space between the trees opened up allowing us to see all of the Moreno Valley. We walked up to the overlook and posed for a photo. Emily put her hand on Jordan's chest and said, "Wow, your heart is beating really fast." "Must be the altitude," Jordan responded. A few seconds later, as Emily was about to walk off of the ledgy overlook Jordan pulls something out of his pocket and kneels on one knee. "I know this is a long time over due, but will you marry me?" "Shut the front door!" Emily excitedly squeaked out. After sweet smooches, hugs and happy tears she managed to say, "Yes!" By this time, friends already had the cameras out and were clearly in on the plan. The celebration had begun, 8,400 feet atop a mountain champagne and all.
