When we pictured our wedding day, we both agreed we wanted it to revolve around unforgettable moments with the people we love most. We can't imagine starting this next chapter without all of you there to celebrate with us. So, pack your bags and grab your passports — we can't wait to celebrate with you in paradise!
Andrew and I are both from Chandler, Arizona and went to two of the same schools together, and yet we had no idea who the other person was until we were 'set up' at a Christmas party in 2019. How we managed to grow up alongside each other and never really get to know each other is beyond me, but I'm glad it all worked out the way that it did. We started dating pretty much right after we met, and we were planning to do long distance when he left for his baseball season in the spring. That was the spring of 2020, so what was supposed to be a year of long distance ended up being a whole year of us spending quarantine together. The craziest part of all of that was the first year I knew Andrew, I had never even seen him throw a baseball. A year later, the world had reopened and Andrew was finally going to get to play baseball again, and I decided to pack my bags and join him on the road. I had no idea what I had signed up for, and I remember finding out probably 24 hours in advance that we were going to live in Charleston, South Carolina together. That was the beginning of a very fun, and very unpredictable life in the minor leagues. Andrew's baseball career took us all over the country together. To say we've gotten very good at moving over the years would be putting it lightly. Since Charleston, we've lived in 5 states, and probably 10 apartments together. The friends and memories we made along the way though were absolutely priceless. In 2021, we were living in Port Charlotte and found a Craigslist ad for black lab puppies in Pensacola. There was one girl left, and we instantly knew she was ours after one FaceTime with the breeder. We named her Toast, and as all of you already know, we're obsessed with her. Andrew proposed in July 2024, in our old home of St. Petersburg, Florida. It was a picture perfect evening, and he did what I thought was impossible, surprise me. This next chapter is our most exciting one yet, and we are so grateful for all of your love and support along the way. January 2026 can't come soon enough!
On the day I was planning to propose, I remember going to a paint your own pottery place and not even being able to focus on whatever I was doing because all I could think about was the night in front of us. I'd had the ring in our closet in a world baseball classic backpack on the floor, hoping Maddie would never get curious to look inside or the desire to start organizing (which happens). I had no idea how I was going to get the ring in the box, into the car, and to the proposal spot without giving it up. What I came up with since I had it explained like we were just going on a beach picnic, was to wrap up the ring in a beach towel to hide it better. This plan worked until we pulled up to the beach and I realized the towel and beach stuff was in the trunk of the car all wrapped up and I needed to get it out before we walked towards the beach and she'd see the sign. Disrespectfully, I told her that she needed to pay for parking at the toll station so she'd walk away from the car and give me enough time to scramble through the beach gear and get the ring, which was successful. So onward to the beach picnic, I had it set up by a company that specializes in custom beach picnics with a table, decorations, champagne, charcuterie, cushions to sit on, and a sign saying "will you marry me". I had also hired a photographer through the same company and as we were walking up I saw him sitting literally 15 feet away, not hiding it at all, with a camera on his lap, sitting on a bench right behind the picnic. Maddie didn't seem to notice, which led to us walking up to the picnic area, where she also didn't realize the "will you marry me sign" for what felt like 30 seconds. I feel like most stories involve the guy being so nervous they black out in the moment, but with us I knelt on one knee and opened the ring box and asked if she would marry me and I think she blacked out instead not responding for what seemed like forever, but instead just being in utter shock from my point of view. After she came to and realized what was happening it was and immediate YES and lots of happiness between us both and relief for myself. The photographer got a ton of good pictures, as it was summer in Florida and a thunderstorm was a couple miles away and the sunset made it look surreal. We then sat on the beach until 10pm just laughing and enjoying the moment not wanting it to end, drinking champagne, and eating charcuterie, which Maddie was struggling to eat I think due to the excitement. After it got dark and the champagne was gone, we decided it was time to start the phone calls and I remember sitting in the car calling everyone we could think of to tell them how the story went. It was the perfect engagement story and I can't believe I was able to not blow the surprise for weeks before. Since then we've been loving being engaged and planning our wedding which we can't wait for you all to attend. We'll see you in Mexico, where the engagement story comes full circle from getting engaged on a beach to married on a beach. We'll see you all there!
