Lisboa City Card
The Lisboa City Card offers free admission to top attractions and discounts at various landmarks. It provides unlimited free access to the public transport system. You can purchase for 24, 48, or 72 hours.
Alfama District
The Alfama District is a must-see! There are tons of sights here, whether you're walking or taking Tram 28 to hit all the stops. This is the oldest and most colorful neighborhood in Lisbon. It is hilly and a bit of a maze. If you ever find yourself disoriented, always head downhill and it will lead you back to the wide open avenues.
Castelo de São Jorge
Alex is taking the Tram 28 one-hour scenic tour of Lisbon's commercial, cultural areas & history. He'll be stopping at Castelo de São Jorge (St George Castle), which is the highest point in Lisbon!
Mercado de Campo de Ourique
Alex says "Excellent food stalls, family seating tables, coldest beer ever (Super Bok). Favorite market in Portugal."
Centro Vasco da Gama
The Vasco da Gama Shopping Mall has tons of shopping and restaurants. Alex tells us the Continente Supermarket (ground level) has the best wine selection in all of Lisbon!
Porto City Card
The Porto.CARD provides more than 130 discounts and free admissions. The metro, buses, and suburban trains (CP) are free of charge and for unlimited use with this card (including the airport connection).
Harry Potter Fans!
If you're a Harry Potter fan, Porto is where J.K. Rowling spent a lot of her time writing and gathering ideas for her stories. Livraria Lello is noted as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. She also frequented Cafe Majestic and São Bento Station was reportedly her muse for King's Cross Station.
Cais da Ribeira
This is Porto's famous river front along the Douro River. Walk around and take in the views, have a glass of Porto's famous port wine from the Douro Valley, or take a river cruise through the valley!
Dom Luís I Bridge
For one of the best views of the city, head to the upper level of the Dom Luís I Bridge (especially at sunset)!
Douro Valley
Whether you like wine or not, Douro Valley has a gorgeous landscape where you can see the beauty of how port wine is made. You can take a wine tour, a boat tour down the Douro River, or even a train ride!
