... a boy from Seattle and a girl from Albany fell in love at "swipe right." Dylan and Leanne met on the Bumble dating app, and for 2 weeks talked about their shared love of theater, travel, and cheese. Their first date was at Alden & Harlow in Harvard Square in Boston. Dylan was instantly taken by Leanne's sweet smile, and Leanne loved how he made her laugh. Their relationship quickly blossomed into love, and they've been inseparable ever since.
Hold onto your hats, because this is a wild story! In August 2019, Dylan purchased the ring that he and Leanne had picked out together. During a family party, Dylan told Leanne's brothers Tony and Steve that he wanted to marry her. The following September, the day after Tony's wedding in Albany, NY, Dylan spoke to Leanne's father Tom and showed him the ring. Tom wholeheartedly gave Dylan his blessing. That afternoon, Dylan and Steve started a secret family text chain with Leanne's entire family - Tom, Tony, Leanne's mom Karan, and her sister-in-laws, Vicky and Krystal - and shared the happy news. Dylan asked for help from the family to plan the proposal, because he knew how important it would be for Leanne to have her family around her. Steve and Krystal offered up their five-year anniversary as a reason for all of them to get together. As the date got closer, Dylan looped Leanne's best friends, Elise and Heidy, into the plan. Elise, who lives in Woodstock, was invited as a guest to the anniversary party, and Heidy, who lives in Boston, would drive with Leanne to Albany. As Leanne and Heidy pulled into her parents' driveway, the first thing Leanne noticed was the handwritten chalk on the driveway, directing her to follow the flower path. There were strewn rose petals along the path that listed all of the things that Dylan loves about her. "I love how happy you make me." "I love how forgetful you are." "I love how kind you are." "I love the way you look at pasta." "But most importantly, I love ya awful." And there was Dylan. The minute they locked eyes, they both started tearing up. Everything Dylan wanted to say immediately flew out of his head. He got down on one knee, and with all the romance and love he had in him, he asked: "Will you marry my ass?" They both burst out laughing and crying at the same time. It was perfectly them. Leanne said yes, and then her entire family came out and cheered, and they celebrated together.
We selected our original date of April 2021 not too long after our engagement. As COVID-19 made its way across the world in 2020, we remained optimistic that we could keep their original date. In January 2021, however, we made the difficult decision to push out our wedding to August and reduce our guest list to our bridal party and immediate family for the health and safety of everyone we love. All of our extended family and friends will be invited to join virtually. We also intend to throw a big bash for all of our friends and family in the summer of 2022.
