Sean and Leah's journey started long before their first date, it actually began seven years earlier when they both stepped foot on the Bryant University campus in August of 2011 as freshmen. Little did they know that over the next four years, they would pass each other in the halls, share accounting courses, and even lived on the same block their senior year! Fast forward to 2018, both Sean and Leah were CPAs working at firms in Boston that were across the street from one another. During the Spring of 2018, Leah would catch Sean going for his post-work runs and thought he would be a great person to get a "running plan" from for a half marathon she was running in May so she "slid into his DMs". In actuality, she was just looking for an excuse to talk to the cute guy that would have lunch everyday in Copley Square. After many, many conversations about running, Leah got a tad impatient and sent a risky "So why haven't you asked me out yet?" text. Some alcohol and encouragement from her sister-in-law may have been involved. Leah and Sean went on their first date that following Thursday.
Sean awoke on the morning of September 6th and decided to go for one last run through Lincoln Woods, the site of where he’d pop the question. Little did Leah know, he’d been taking detours on his past few trips throughout the park to find the perfect spot. Leah had no idea that today would be the day that Sean would finally ask her to marry him. The one thing that tipped Leah off was the fact that Sean made the decision on the restaurant to go to for brunch, which never happens, to “celebrate finally moving into the new house”. After having brunch at Waterman Grille in Providence, Sean mentioned that he wanted to stop by Lincoln Woods to take some pictures of a spot he found on his run the day before, something believable that Leah did not think twice about. After parking much further away than expected, Sean grabbed his camera and walked with Leah up the road into the park. Sean knew exactly where to go, it was a spot off the main rod that led out to a rocky area overlooking the water. There was specifically a sign that stated “NO SWIMMING”, which you would assume would ensure Sean and Leah would be the only ones on the rock. As it turns out, there were about 15 people jumping in the water and swimming at this exact spot… After improvising, Sean decided to walk with Leah further up the rocks to a completely different spot. Sean pointed out something on the water and reached into his camera bag where he had the ring hidden. With Leah distracted, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Leah said yes and was then surprised by family and friends below who had been waiting to celebrate the happy couple. Popping up from the rocks was Leah’s stealthy brother Eddy, in a bright blue shirt, who had been recording the whole thing. It was a day that they will never forget, and having friends and family there made it that much better!
