The short story is Kameron and I met in a class we took together. The long version is that everything really began in the school cafeteria (aka the Rot). The first weekend of Fall 2016, I still didn’t know many people and was eating alone, so Kameron, recognizing me from class, asked if he could join. We talked and quickly hit it off, staying long after we both finished eating. Eventually, Kameron suggested we go watch a movie. We did, and after he walked me back to my dorm I remember informing my then roommate that I was pretty sure I just accidentally went on a date in sweat pants. After that, Kameron and I ran in to each other at the Rot the next few days in a row. Eventually we exchanged numbers and went on our first official date in early Oct. 2016. We officially became girlfriend/boyfriend on Nov. 4th, 2016, and have been growing in our love for each other ever since. One more story from my perspective: I meant to avoid dating for my first year at Liberty and focus on school and making friends. When I started to develope a crush, I had a conversation with God on my walk to the Rot. I told him that I didn’t want this sort of distraction unless this man was going to be the one I married, so if he wasnt the one, I didn’t want to see him that day. I really didn’t think I would, but within the first minute of walking into the Rot Kameron spotted me and we ended up eating together again. As I walked back to my dorm, I thought “that’s too much of a coincidence.” But God immediately contradicted me with this overwhelming feeling that this was right. So I’ve know this day was coming for about 3 ½ years now (give or take depending on when you’re reading this). All of this is to say that God has perfect timing, better than any of us can comprehend. And I thank Him every day for bringing such an amazing man into my life, now for forever :)
First, I bought the ring January 2019 over winter break. At first I told myself that I was just looking, but once I saw the ring and the diamond I knew I had to buy it right then and there or I would regret not doing it for a long time. It was just a perfect combo, and I knew it would be perfect for Leah. So, basically I took way too long proposing because I thought I had to come up with some elaborate scheme or it wasn't going to be good enough. I wanted to do it around June or July of this past summer, and I kept coming up with elaborate plans that after any amount of thought would fall apart. I was just putting a lot of pressure on myself because I wanted it to be perfect because that's what Leah deserves. Eventually, after talking to some friends and family, I realized I just kinda had to do it and keeping it simple was the much wiser choice. So I planned a day trip to Roanoke where we would go to the Pinball Museum and Starcade (which is a really cool place with original pinball and arcade machines) , then go up the Roanoke Star (which is a park on top of a local mountain), and then go out to dinner. All went well, and once we got up to the Roanoke Star, we walked through the park and found a secluded bench on the other side of this garden, and I asked her to marry me.
