Joey and Leah met while attending North Dakota State University. At the time, Joey was working with the NDSU football team, and Leah was competing on the golf team. One day, Joey saw Leah on the jumbotron receiving a golf award and turned to his friends, saying, “I’m going to date her one day." Not long after, Joey sent Leah a message on Instagram, but it did not get a response. A few months later, at the start of a new semester, Joey spotted Leah again while walking to class with a friend. As luck would have it, Leah dropped her phone right in front of him. Joey picked it up, introduced himself, and the two started talking. Soon after, they realized they were sitting next to each other in class. What started as a quick introduction turned into regular conversations, a growing friendship, and eventually a relationship. Looking back, it is funny how a moment on a jumbotron, an unanswered message, and a dropped phone ended up bringing them together.
