Farmington is a cute college town with nice little shops and cute cafes. We highly recommend The Mercantile gift shop, The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (a gift shop that supports local youth entrepreneurs), Twice Sold Tales (bookshop), The Orange Cat Cafe, Press Cafe, Freedom's Kitchen and Bar, Tuck's Ale House.
Mt. Blue State Park is Maine's largest state park, encompassing approximately 8,000 acres in two sections separated by Webb Lake - it's about 25 minutes away. We recommend Center Hill Nature Trail - you don't even need to hike to see stunning mountain and foliage views (the hike is super, super short too). They have picnic tables & a public restroom. Across the lake from the Webb Beach section is the centerpiece of the Park, 3,187-foot Mt. Blue, a popular day-hike. A campground in the Webb Beach section has 136 wooded sites a short walk from a sandy beach and picnic area. Visitors can swim, launch and rent boats, and walk on trails near the lake. Across the lake from the Webb Beach section is the centerpiece of the Park, 3,187-foot Mt. Blue, a popular day-hike. Mountain bikers can experience 25 miles of challenging, multi-use trails.
Great park with access to the river, located on an old mill site - close to downtown Farmington. There's a pavilion with picnic tables, children's outdoor music making stations, walking trails, and public restrooms. Recently redone - it's a great spot.
Delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner options. We love the owners!
Beautiful lake town to visit - or to stay.
Rangeley has beautiful lakes and mountains, lots of fun outdoor things to do.
The Fryeburg Fair (Maine's largest Agricultural fair) is running from September 27th to October 5th. If you're coming up early and don't mind a drive (2.5 hours), it would be a fun event to go to!
