Five years ago Dave and Leah met on a plane coming back from Germany, though it wasn't the most elegant of introductions. Leah sat on the bag that included the pillow and blankets for the flight, which ended up making a loud noise, enough to make Dave laugh and Leah blush from embarrassment. Needless to say that plastic blast propelled a lengthy conversation between the two of them flying back into the United States. After eight hours of breathless conversation (mainly by Leah, let's be honest), they exchanged information to stay in touch, not that either of them assumed there would be contact after the flight. Luckily, for both of them, they did and found themselves a few months later having their first unofficial, official date in New York City. Before they set up their meet-up in Central park, both made it VERY clear that they were just friends and wanted to hang out and explore the city together. Five years later and they are still returning to the same city where they fell for each other.
A trip was organized to Italy to find some dedicated time to reconnect, relax, and explore a country they had both been, but hadn't seen together. One morning they started a hike on the Path of the Gods outside of Positano. As they took a small break to grab some water, Leah started stacking rocks on the side of the mountain where Dave topped the pile with an engagement ring. They both have their own versions of how everything was expressed, but that's how it's always been and always will be!
Dave and Leah go back to NYC every April to celebrate their anniversary on April 20th, so this time, they thought they would make a real celebration out of it and elope! They still plan on having a traditional wedding next year with just immediate family in Italy where they got engaged.
We got friends and family spread out across the U.S. so we're trying to compromise by meeting everyone in the middle. Choose between D.C. at our home or Dave's Family in Illinois to celebrate with us!
