Back in February 2024, Danny planned a dinner with our friends, Cameron Shafer and Abby Sauer. That night, we ended up booking a trip to one of our favorite places, St. Petersburg, Florida, for June, with our aforementioned favorite people, Cam and Abby. At one point during dinner, I stepped away from the table, and that’s when Danny told them he wanted to propose in St. Pete and asked for their help. We arrived in St. Pete on June 5th and decided to take it easy that first night. If you know Danny, you know he’s not much of a planner—he usually just goes with the flow. So when he and Abby insisted that we get dressed up and go to a fancy dinner our first night, it definitely stood out. Danny had even given the ring to Abby to hold onto the first night. Abby made a reservation at a nice restaurant in downtown St. Pete. We got dressed up (we being Abby and I, the boys wore ripped tank tops and jeans), Ubered downtown, and grabbed drinks at a bar before dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant, they seated us outside. After we finished eating, Abby asked me to go to the bathroom with her. What I didn’t realize at the time was that this was the moment she passed the ring back to Danny. When we got back to the table and paid, Danny suggested we head to Fresco’s on the Pier for drinks before going out. I was so excited because I love Fresco’s; it’s right on the water, and the walk there takes you through my favorite part of St. Pete, a beautiful park where the trees are lined with lights. I was completely full and wearing a skirt that tied at the waist. In the bathroom with Abby, I had tightened it way too much, so I stopped for a moment to fix it. As I was retying it, I suddenly noticed how quiet it had gotten. I remember saying, “Why is everyone so quiet?” I turned around—and there was Danny, down on one knee. The rest is history. <3
