Our Story

Leah and Damion first met at Gilbert High School in 2015 through JROTC. At the time, Leah was a sophomore and Damion was a freshman. Although they didn’t begin dating until Leah’s junior year, a quiet crush had been there long before either of them acknowledged it. Like many high school relationships, life and timing eventually pulled them in different directions, losing touch. Even so, neither ever fully disappeared from the other’s life. They remained mutuals on social media for years, consistently liking each other’s posts and silently wondering what the other was up to, but never quite reaching out. Everything changed when Damion sent Leah a message on Instagram asking if she worked at a law office (to this day he won’t admit that he was using it as a pickup line.) He had recently gotten out of the Army and had begun exploring a possible future in law and considering becoming a court interpreter for ASL. Leah’s initial concern that he might be in legal trouble was quickly put to rest, and the conversation felt familiar and easy. They exchanged numbers so Leah could pass along any information she had, and for a while, that was it. About a month later, Damion reached out unexpectedly and asked Leah to dinner. When they went on their “first date” for the second time, it felt as though no time had passed at all. They talked for four hours straight, and the conversation came effortlessly. From that night on, they were constantly talking, reconnecting, and building something that felt natural and right. Sometimes love is not about finding someone new, but about finding the way back to the person who always felt like home.
