Downtown Lynchburg is home to many adorable shops, restaurants, breweries, rooftop bars, and historical sites along walkable brick and cobblestone streets. We recommend visiting the oldest pawn shop in the country, L. Oppleman, relaxing with a stogie in Pap's Cigar Co. & Lounge, or walking along the James River.
Located in downtown Lynchburg, this arcade bar has two floors of pinball, classic 80's games, original consoles, and live music depending on the day. (For our Coloradan guests, it has much more than Flipside!)
This craft beer store carries a wide variety of brews from all over the world. Even if you don't take anything back to your hotel, have a seat and try a few drafts on site before heading back.
Connecting Shenandoah National Park to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this 469-mile parkway is a beautiful scenic drive with many lookout points for pictures and views.
A staple of Lynchburg, the weenie stand is a hole in the wall diner from the 70's. It doesn't look like much, but we visit weekly for either a hearty breakfast or a phenomenal burger. If you choose to visit, say hi to Evan and Missy for us! Make sure to double check their hours. (Personal opinion - its the best burger in town)
Don't let the name deceive you. Established in 1940, this unique restaurant and bar provide good food, beer, pool, darts, and the priceless opportunity to carve on your own table while perusing the many license plates lining the ceiling. Once a carriage house, the Cavalier now offers great burgers and seasoned fries. This is a cash only establishment with an ATM inside.
Route 151 is a self guided brewery, winery, and distillery tour. Along this scenic byway through the mountains are 21 total stops including 7 wineries, 6 breweries/restaurants, 3 cideries, and 5 distilleries. Try them all or just stop for a few. The combinations are numerous. If you decide to explore this tour, Leah's personal favorite is Silverback Distillery.
