Leah and Asher met for the first time on a cold January day at Glover Middle School. Asher is a substitute teacher and goes around the district to different buildings day to day, so it was such a pleasant surprise that one day he found himself across the hall from the 6th grade Science class that Leah teaches. After seeing each other in the halls that day, Leah didn't know that Asher kept a special eye out for sub jobs that came up at Glover, and Asher didn't know that Leah and her co-teacher started hatching a plan to find him jobs in the building. One day, Asher found an excuse to go talk to Leah in the form of a "What is Ms. Richards Reading?" sign, featuring one of his favorite books! That afternoon they talked about books, running, and Leah's knitting project. The next day Leah sent Asher a work email inviting him to get together sometime outside of school. In the months that followed, many of Leah's students (who would have Mr. Layton as a sub) would tell the two of them how perfect they were for each other, without knowing that the two of them were finding out for themselves already. Leah and Asher would begin a relationship sweeter and stronger than they could have hoped for, and they would listen to that book series together. Finally, one of Leah's principals would go on to find out about that work email, she's just glad it worked out. Leah and Asher enjoy reading together, running together, and Asher still tries to score substitute teaching jobs near Leah whenever he can. They are so excited to celebrate the beginning of their marriage this summer!
