If you are thinking of coming all the way down to Chile, here are some things to consider!

Flight

Santiago, Chile (SCL )

The main airport in Chile is in the Capital, in Santiago, about 3 hours away from Pichilemu. If you are planning on coming, ideally, we would like to coordinate days that everyone arrives and leaves so we can pick up and drop off everyone relatively at the same time. However, if you are feeling adventurous, there is a bus that leaves every 15 minutes in from of the airport that takes you to the central bus station, with comfortable coach busses that leave every hour to and from Santiago-Pichilemu for a very affordable rate.

House Or Rental

Hostal Arohanui

Francisco has a friend (with whom he lived in New Zealand) who built his own hostel in Pichilemu near the beach. We are working with him so our guests have a place to stay, which includes a community area and garden, as well as a kitchen space. Otherwise, being the tourist surfer town that it is, Pichilemu provides tons of cabins, hotels and family owned lodging if you would like to look for something on your own. There are more than enough places for people to stay!

Travel Note

Currency

Chile uses Chilean Pesos. Right now, the exchange rate is fantastic and lower than it has every been. Food is typically the same cost as back in the states, but everything else is relatively cheap. There are local community taxis that can take you anywhere in town for less than a dollar, and there are plenty of free things to do just enjoying the scenery of the Chilean coast.

Travel Note

Food

If you are planning on coming, there are plenty of fun, locally owned restaurants and food trucks all over the city center, as well as a local market twice a week to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables to make things at home. The idea is to keep costs down and everyone together, so please plan on barbecues and family meals where everyone chips in!
